Shabbat Shalom - Remembrance

Friday, 11 September, 2026 - 10:00 am

Certain moments remain seared into the memory, never to be forgotten.

9/11.

Everyone remembers where they were when they heard the unfathomable news. Everyone. Impossible to forget.

Now 25 years have passed. We don’t forget. We pay our respects. As individuals we have all grown. We still have work to do. America is a great country!!

Remembering.

One of the primary names for Rosh Hashana is Yom Hazikaron. Day of Remembrance.

“You remember all things that are forgotten. You open the Book of Remembrance and it reads itself”  liturgy of Unetaneh Tokef ...

Remembrance.

The Jewish nation revers memory. We have such a rich history. We have so many generations of self sacrifice. We have ancestors that were so selfless and righteous. Remembrance for us is a tremendous advantage.

If I am merely me and I’m judged on my actions — I may be a little nervous. If I however, are we, — myself together with what preceded me — boy do I smell sweet.

Remembrance.

Please Hashem remember the cosmic intention of creation. Humankind is your experiment beginning with Adam and Eve. Freedom of choice is a huge gift that you have granted us and that distinguishes us as humans. We pledge the year ahead to utilize the power of choice in the most potent and positive manner. Inscribe us in the book of life!

Bestow on us the blessings that we so need and leave the rest to us. Remember the handiwork of our ancestors — we can do it too. We pledge to make this world a place, where you Gd feel comfortable and proud of. Full of Torah and Mitzvah, love, laughter, charity and justice — and we beg of you to send us the utopian age of Moshiach and perfection!

Inscribe us for a good life!

With best wishes for a Shabbat Shalom & Shana Tova,
